Over the past week, we were able to see a handful of artists’ top ten metal albums of all time including Corey Taylor. These lists give us a clear picture on the artist’s taste and inspiration. However, they shocked us as well by revealing a few unexpected selections. Today, Rolling Stone shared Gojira’s Joe Duplantier’s top ten. His list ranges between Metallica’s 1984’s Ride the Lightning to Mastodon’s latest Emperor of Sand (2017). Based on this list it’s safe to assume the frontman loves Death, Morbid Angel, and Metallica the most, but it’s interesting to see an album from this year make his top ten. A few can now agree, or argue, on bassist Robert Trujillo’s recent comment stating Gojira could be the next Metallica.

Check out Joe’s list below:

01) Death – Human, (1991)

02) Death – Symbolic, (1995)

03) Machine Head – Burn My Eyes, (1994)

04) Mastodon – Emperor of Sand, (2017)

05) Metallica – Master of Puppets, (1986)

06) Metallica – Ride the Lightning, (1984)

07) Morbid Angel – Covenant, (1993)

08) Morbid Angel – Domination, (1995)

09) Rage Against the Machine – Rage Against the Machine, (1992)

10) Sepultura – Chaos A.D., (1993)
