Played Angry Birds lately? Us neither, but we have a feeling a lot of people are going to be firing up their smartphone to download Angry Birds Evolution. The spin-off mobile game from Angry Birds, has announced they’ll be celebrating Halloween this year by paying tribute to Iron Maiden. This Wednesday (18), Rovio Entertainment will release a new character to Angry Birds Evolution, and it will feature Iron Maiden’s mascot, Eddie. The character’s full name will be Eddie the Bird and he’ll be available for two weeks. However, for those who are able to unlock the brand new character, you will be able to keep him forever.

Rovio’s VP of Games Miika Tams stated the following:

“Our team is filled with massive Iron Maiden fans and Eddie was both our first choice and a natural fit in Angry Birds Evolution. It’s about time his status as a true rock icon was celebrated and we know that fans will love seeing Eddie The Bird raise hell on Bird Island!”

This new temporary addition should make everyone want to play the game, even if you’ve been sick seeing everyone else playing it. There’s already a movie out based on this game, making us realize that anything is possible. Regardless, we are excited to see Eddie the Bird in action. And even if you’ve moved on, don’t worry, as Eddie The Bird will be making it to Iron Maiden’s own mobile game, Iron Maiden: Legacy of the Beast, next year. You’ll also be able to pick up some Eddie the Bird merch.
