Behemoth vocalist and guitarist Adam “Nergal” Darski has been working on some, “stripped down and simple,” solo material, and it sounds like that pursuit will stave off any new Behemoth material for quite awhile.

In an interview with Inferno TV, he spoke of their outstanding 2014 album, The Satanist:

“I had this feeling – this is definitely our magnum opus. I’m not sure if it should be continued. I’m just being honest. It’s been a year now, and I haven’t really done any extreme metal ever since, because I’m so happy with what’s happening now. We’re just going to give it some time. Let’s talk one or two years down the road and see what happens then.”

This means it could be awhile – 2016 or 2017 – until we hear about plans for a new Behemoth album. Or not, as Nergal said just last month that new Behemoth material is, “the last position on my list of priorities.”
