John Garcia has been busy with Vista Chino (initially called Kyuss Lives!), but he’s also been taking the time to record his first solo album. Somehow, Garcia has managed to wrangle a legend to guest on the album: guitarist Robby Krieger of The Doors. On collaborating with Krieger, Garcia says:

“To have Robby Krieger from The Doors play on my first-ever solo record was surreal. Not only was it surreal, but to be the first artist ever to record in his brand new studio, Horse Latitudes, in Los Angeles made it even more special. I am honored, and humbled by his professionalism and talent and will never forget that experience for the rest of my life… It truly made the song ‘Her Bullets Energy’ better, not to mention the entire record.”

Krieger’s inclusion is cool enough, but if Garcia’s album is anything like Vista Chino, it should be even better. The untitled album is due out at the end of July on Napalm Records.
