What’s more gimmicky than a gimmicky metal band? How about a gimmicky metal tour? The Mockstrosity Show featured MacSabbath, Metalachi and Okilly Dokilly. Two of those three bands have the distinction of having gone viral, with mainstream outlets that normally wouldn’t touch anything heavy with a ten foot pole breathlessly covering Okilly and Mac Sabbath. And while it’s taken until now for all three bands to mount up and tour together, the full house at Montclair’s Wellmont Theater last night (28) seemed to suggest that there’s certainly an audience for them.

Of the three, Mac Sabbath have probably gotten the most press. But then, when your’e a McDonalds-themed Black Sabbath tribute act singing songs about how unhealthy fast food is, the hype will follow. Singer Ronald Osbourne may be even worse a singer than Ozzy is, but him and the rest of the band nail Sabbath’s music. Metalachi is, as their name suggests, a band that does mariachi-versions of metal songs, and perhaps are the least gimmicky of the three bands. Okilly Dokilly, the Ned Flanders-themed metal band, had the most original songs out of the three. Photographer Melinda Oswandel was at the show last night and captured the evening for posterity. If you like what you see, there are still some dates left to check  this tour out, including tonight in New York City:
