Thanks to his role as judge on American Idol, and his new solo song “(It) Feels So Good,” you’ve probably heard the Aerosmith frontman’s name mentioned a lot lately. One thing you probably never thought you’d hear about, though, is Steven Tyler jamming with movie star Johnny Depp. Now sure, the Pirates Of The Caribbean star been known to dabble in music before. He’s also been very public about the fact that the character Jack Sparrow is based on Keith Richards. But it still seems out of the blue to hear that Edward Scissorhands was playing music with Steven Tyler.

Yet that’s exactly what’s been happening, according to Tyler himself. While on the red carpet for Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides premiere, Tyler revealed to Billboard.com that the two were collaborating on music together during his downtime from American Idol, saying the following:

“We’ve been hanging out here and there. He’s someone I’ve admired greatly for such a long time. The idea of writing songs with him is a dream come true.

He asked me, he said, ‘I want you to come over’ — he’s got a studio here in L.A. — ‘and see if I’m playing “Seasons of Wither” right.’ I said, ‘Y’know what, Johnny? No matter how you play it, it’s gonna be right. It’s a beautiful thing.”

So rather than spending time with his band mates in Aerosmith and working on their long awaited new album, Tyler is working on music with Johnny Depp…actually, that might be a better option for him at this point. And it’s not like joe Perry isn’t already annoyed by Tyler. What will come of this collaboration is still unknown, though if any does come out of it, we’re sure you’ll get to hear it on Tyler’s solo album.
