Rumors and Gossip

According to numerous sources, the lineup to this year’s Lollapalooza has reportedly leaked. Among the many bands rumored for this year’s bill are Black Sabbath and At The Drive-In, along with the Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Black Keys, Florence + The Machine and many others. While an official announcement is expected to be made on Wednesday (April 11), we’d say it’s a safe bet that Black Sabbath and At The Drive-In will be at this year’s Lollapalooza.

First, let’s take a look at why Sabbath is a sure thing. Tony Iommi’s battle with lymphoma forced the reunited Sabbath to scale back their European tour plans to just one date. However, shortly after announcing the cancelations, Sharon Osbourne let it slip that Sabbath will indeed perform one U.S. date in August in addition to their Download Festival appearance. If rumors are true that Sabbath were originally slated to perform at this year’s Coachella, then it would make sense that their only American show would take place at another festival. And not only is Lollapalooza one of the bigger destination festivals in the States, it also takes place in August. As to who might appear behind the drum kit for said festival appearance, though, remains unclear.

As for At The Drive-In, it wouldn’t be surprising if they add yet another festival appearance to their reunion plans. In fact, the post hardcore group announced this past weekend that they’d be performing their first show since reuniting tonight at Red 7 in Austin, TX. Whether more shows will pop up remains unclear, but a gig at Lollapalooza wouldn’t be surprising. Just don’t expect any new music from At The Drive-In.

While the leaked lineup looks like a sure thing, this year’s lineup for Lollapalooza has still not be confirmed. Once again, an official announcement is expected to be made this Wednesday (April 11).
