Rumors and Gossip

It’s been almost four months since dates and venues for this year’s Rockstar Energy Mayhem Fest were announced. And the touring festival’s lineup will be revealed… on January 25. Ok, so we have a little bit of a wait, and the recent teaser trailer posted on the tour’s YouTube account doesn’t give too many hints (unless if Trivium, whose song “Insurrection” is used in the clip, is on the bill for the second year in a row).

However, like past years, rumors as to who might be appearing on the bill have already starting to make the rounds. One of the most speculated bands for Mayhem Fest has been Slipknot. More recently, though, rumblings about Slayer and Motörhead also potentially being on board for the tour have made its way around the web. Plus, As I Lay Dying drummer  Jordan Mancino has been “unable” to comment on the band’s Summer tour plans in interviews with Metal Underground and Rock And Metal News.

Both Slipknot and Slayer alone would be big grabs for Mayhem Fest (even if they have co-headlined the festival in past years), while Motörhead and As I Lay Dying would be great additions to the bill as well (each for different reasons). But of course, none of this has been confirmed and is merely gossip. We’ll just have to wait till January 25 to know for sure.

You can watch the teaser trailer we previously mentioned in the player above. While we’re on the subject, who would you like to see play this year’s Mayhem Fest?
