Tommy Vext Ousted from Yet Another Band, Surely Bound for Reality TV

Shocking Revelations

tommyvextAre you sitting down? Please, please sit down for some completely unexpected, Earth-shattering news. Vocalist Tommy Vext has left the re-united Snot after touring and recording with the band since last August. This comes on the heels of a well-documented, hyper-dramatic split from Dino Cazares’ Divine Heresy last May. Snot Guitarist Mikey Doling issued a statement on the matter:

SNOT is again looking for a vocalist. Unfortunately, Tommy Vext [a.k.a. Tommy Cummings; ex-DIVINE HERESY] has not worked out. Tommy’s a great guy and he is very talented, but after writing for the last five months, there has been a lot of strain on relationships within the band, resulting in the departure of Sonny Mayo [guitar] and Tommy Vext. We wish the both of them the best of luck.

It’s amazing how conflict follows this guy everywhere. Suffice it to say, it’s safe to assume this won’t be the last we hear of it. Sometimes your reputation precedes you, but I’ve met Tommy countless times, and I’ve always thought he’s such a nice guy, very gracious. Seriously, he’s always been a good dude with me. Please don’t beat me up.

i was lucky to have gotten to see Divine Heresy before Tommy left (or was kicked out) of the band. Tommy is an amazing front man with strong vocals. He was the kind of frontman that got you excited to watch and listen to. I really had high hopes for him and Divine Heresy.

Thats why it breaks my heart to hear this. This is the second time and under similar context (however it was alot more dramatic with Divine Heresy but I cannot believe that his Snot departure was any friendlier). I do not doubt that he is a nice guy, partly cause I got to meet him briefly at the show I saw them at and partly just out of hope. However, this leads me to unfortunatly believe that he is in some ways difficult to work with. I hope I am wrong though and maybe he has just gotten the raw end of the deal, because I truly feel he is one of the most talented front men in metal to recently come out. He has the potential to become a lasting figure, I just hope he gets his act together.

To Zach S: I had the same feeling for Tommy like you do. I am a big fan and have high hopes on him and even still dreaming that he would reunite with Divine Heresy. If you wanna talk to him personally go visit his Myspace page.

I never had the chance to see Tommy live, but from the songs I have heard him in, he is a great vocalist. He can sing VERY well to go along with his screams. I would love to see him in another band. Maybe more Metalcore. I’m surprised Killswitch Engage didn’t see him or hear of him because if they did….Howard Jones would probably not be the singer, although I love Howard’s singing and high screams I believe Tommy might be better. I just do hope that he finds a band soon, I would love to hear it.

I’m totally hooked on Sonny with a chance, Tawni is my favorite on the show! Thanks for posting this, I enjoyed reading it!

Tommy is an amazing performer. I saw him 3 times and would like to see him again. No longer a fan of dino(and I was too) I remember seeing tommy perform with a broken foot or leg. He was all over the place with a cast! C’mon how many artist will do that? So hopefully he gets a break soon and will be onstage again.
