Things have been looking good for Volbeat. The Danish garage metallers’ latest album Beyond Hell/Above Heaven has been on the charts now for over a year, they’re releasing a new live CD/DVD next week, and they’ll be appearing on Gigantour this coming January. Now, though, comes word that they’ve parted ways with guitarist Thomas Bredahl.

In a statement posted on their website, the remaining members of Volbeat revealed the following:

“Volbeat has decided to part ways with Thomas Bredahl. Being in a band is in many ways similar to a marriage with ups and downs. At times you can work it out and sometimes you need to go separate ways…

We want to thank him for the work he has put in for Volbeat and we wish him all the best in the future. Volbeat will play all shows as announced, either as a trio or with a replacement guitarist. Right now we’ll take a well deserved break and we will be back on the road in January, ready to rock the Gigantour and Wacken.”

Bredahl had been in Volbeat since 2006, and made is recording debut with the band on 2008’s Guitar Gangsters & Cadillac Blood. Back in April, bassist Anders Kjølholm dropped off of Volbeat’s U.S. tour with The Damned Things to take care of personal matters, though has since returned to the group. It would appear that a short break is indeed in order for Volbeat right now.
