The rumbles began this morning, after Metal Sucks rumored that influential post-hardcore label Hydra Head Records was rumored to be closing. Sadly, it was confirmed earlier today by a post on Hydra Head’s blog – after December, the label will exist only to fulfill orders of its impressive back catalog. Metal By Numbers is a weekly column in which we look at the top metal sellers and debuts of the week. It is simply amazing in this day and age that a metalcore band like For The Fallen Dreams can sell 1.1 million copies. I mean seriously! Sure, they probably have gained a lot of [...]

This past weekend, Metal Insider was one of the sponsors of Krazy Fest, the long-dormant Louisville KY hardcore/punk/emo festival that reared it’s head after an eight-year absence. This will be one of the last editions of New & Noteworthy of 2010, and a week with only three releases doesn’t need much of an introduction. I’ve pretty much said everything I can about the holidays and how they affect the music industry. So I will just say this today: Give the gift of [...]
