Internet radio provider Pandora has gained a lot of listeners via their iPhone app, but they’re increasingly taking aim at commuters. Thanks to Hypebot for pulling this nifty graphic from Compete. Pandora and Last FM, among others, continue to bring in more and more listeners at a steady rate. By the looks of it, the royalty people are more likely to destroy online radio before a general lack of interest does it in.
After settling on new royalty rates, Pandora is compensating their increased costs by limiting users to 40 hours per month with a $0.99 monthly fee for the remainder of that month. From their blog:

After an extremely long negotiation period, “pure-play” webcasters (those who are not part of large corporations or are also over-the-air broadcasters) have reached a settlement for royalty payments to SoundExchange. The agreement includes the massively popular Pandora.
