CBS Recruits Another Metalhead For Reality Show

For a network that’s conventionally thought of as the network for old people, CBS has been aggressively courting the metal demographic, at least as far as its reality show contestants go. Last year, metal fans and the NYC metal community watched Big Brother 13 as Adam “Heavy Metal Teddy Bear” Poch made it all the way to third place, shouting out the big four in the season finale. This year, former Kittie bassist Jenn Arroyo is on the show, making it a one-two punch of metal on the show. And the network isn’t waiting until next year to cast another headbanger, as former White Lion/Megadeth bassist James LoMenzo will be on this season of The Amazing Race.

LoMenzo will be competing for between $1 and $2 million with Mark Abbatista, entertainment lawyer and manager of HAIL!, an all-star touring band with a rotating cast of members that’s included LoMenzo, along with Tim “Ripper” Owens, Mike Portnoy, and Paul Gray, among many others. Sure, the two got picked because they fit a “type,” and we’re guessing the type will be “metalheads that other characters make fun of because they have long hair.” That won’t matter if they’re good at the game.

The Amazing Race will premiere on Sunday, September 30 on CBS. And to remind you of what James looked like 25 years ago, check out White Lion’s “Wait” after the jump. YouTube Preview Image
