Dissident Aggression: Top 10 Albums of 2013

1. Amon Amarth – Deceiver of the Gods (Metal Blade Records)
A a band grows in popularity it becomes more and more chic for the internet warriors to talk crap about a band.  Haters gonna hate.  If Amon Amarth got on the Mayhem Fest because they softened their sound and adding clean vocal passages to appeal to the Falses I’d be o.k. with the chatter.  But this band just dropped one of the best albums of their career and one of the best death metal records of the last few years.  Period.  It’s doesn’t get much more epic (or Norse) than an Amon Amarth album and this is one of their most epic efforts to date.  Swedish death metal at its finest!

Honorable Mentions

ASG – Blood Drive
Carcass – Surgical Steel
Clutch – Earth Rocker
Darkthrone – The Underground Resistance
Immortal Bird – Akrasia
Oranssi Pazuzu – Valonielu
Skeletonwitch – Serpents Unleashed
