Metal Insider’s Top 5 is a column where we count down the top five of…well basically anything.

The idea behind Record Store Day is a great one – get music consumers into independent record stores to pick up rare and limited-edition music from some amazing artists. It usually takes place on the third Saturday of April, but with Black Friday (11/23) the heaviest shopping day of the year, fans will have another chance to pick up some exclusive or new-to-vinyl music. As always, all genres are represented, but metal has some choice releases. With that in mind, here’s our top five (and more) list of Record Store Day Black Friday exclusives to pick up on November 23. Now knock out that holiday shopping!rd

    Volbeat was rapidly on the rise long before Beyond Heaven. Tour with Metallica, scoop from Revolver had them selling out Gramercy and Irving Plaza. Nothing to do with signing to Universal. The label wasn’t even sure they were putting it out until months after the European release.

  • Megadeth has added two dates in New York City to Gigantour this summer, bringing the touring festival to the Hammerstein Ballroom on August 6 and 7.

  • As They Burn has premiered a new video of them performing the song “Medicine 2.0″.

  • Battlecross has premiered a new song called “Flesh & Bone” with Metal Sucks. The song appears on the band’s new album, War Of Will, due out on July 9 via Metal Blade Records.

  • Chimaira has announced dates for a U.S. headlining tour in support of it’s forthcoming album, Crown Of Phantoms. Support on the trek will come from Threat Signal, The Browning and Dark Sermon.
