2. Slayer Covers Iron Butterfly’s “In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida”

Slayer had just released their landmark album Reign In Blood, their first via Def Jam Records and their partnership with Rick Rubin. And thanks to Rubin’s insistence, Slayer recorded Iron Butterfly’s 1968 hit for the Less Than Zero soundtrack. While the members of Slayer don’t care for their cover of “In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida,” it still receives radio play to this day. Nevertheless, psychedelic 60’s rock is the last thing we think of when Slayer come to mind.

    YES! I’m so glad someone else mentioned this! The Dimension Zero cover of “Stayin’ Alive” remains my favorite metal cover of all time!!!!!
