The saxophone was basically the punchline of the ’80s. An instrument that was so “cool,” it became uncool. Sure, there were some solid songs that featured the instrument (well, if you can call “Baker Street” cool), and Clarence Clemons was pretty badass in his day, but by the ’80s, the instrument was pretty much relegated to Huey Lewis and the News solos and Sade records. Of course everything eventually becomes cool again, and we’re in the midst of a sax renaissance. Now some of the metal that’s in metal is gold and a woodwind instrument. Check out the following acts and/or songs that are pretty saxy.

  • C Mon now

dude really?? u name a bunch of sax-men that play little to barely any parts except the Shinning. You should of done some real research and look for real band that incorporate the sax into almost their songs instead of just one or two songs in which i would NOT consider it be all jazzy/ black or be considered an album with a sax-man etc. but no….. Next time look up the genre “Black-jazz” and bands that use the Sax; rather than say, “O yea there a sax on this album watch out! (only on one/ two songs not the album)”

P.S. You should know metal arch. does help a lot….. especially if your giving us news, and blogging about metal
