4) The Faceless – “Autotheist Movement Pt. III: Deconsecrate”

The climactic third act of Autotheism’s monstrous opening three-part epic, “Deconsecrate” subtly works saxophone in alongside the more soulful side of Michael Keene’s otherworldly shred wizardy. It’s an odd bit of sideways jazziness in the song, but it really sets itself apart from black metal’s recent sax experiments upon viewing the album credits. Yes, that’s the work of Sergio “Sexy Sax Man” Flores, whose home base is close enough to The Faceless’ Encino, California roots that it’s still unclear as to whether he was a true album guest or simply called in via his iPhone app for a Saxagram. Most impressively, the song works seamlessly whether or not Flores’ identity is obvious, and also regardless of the extent to which The Faceless meant to troll every Internet-dwelling metalhead who bought a copy.

  • C Mon now

dude really?? u name a bunch of sax-men that play little to barely any parts except the Shinning. You should of done some real research and look for real band that incorporate the sax into almost their songs instead of just one or two songs in which i would NOT consider it be all jazzy/ black or be considered an album with a sax-man etc. but no….. Next time look up the genre “Black-jazz” and bands that use the Sax; rather than say, “O yea there a sax on this album watch out! (only on one/ two songs not the album)”

P.S. You should know metal arch. does help a lot….. especially if your giving us news, and blogging about metal
