Metal Insider’s Top 5 is a column where we count down the top five of…well basically anything.

Metal fans always try to focus on the incredible, awe-inspiring albums that legendary bands have given us. However, the truth is that almost every great band has at least one rotten egg in their otherwise rich catalog. Whether it be an album that failed to live up to the hype, or a record that’s simply god awful, any legacy artist has at least one album that fans try to forget about. Well this week, we’re here to remind you of five of them.

Before we move forward, though, there’s two things we need to clarify about this week’s list:

1) We’re not trying to necessarily say that each album is piece of crap. Some albums may have actually done decent in album sales, and still have a core of fans that enjoy it. However, the albums in this list are for the most part considered to be major disappointments by fans and critics.

2) This list purposefully does not include any albums from Metallica. Let’s face it, we could probably do a Top 5 list on disappointing Metallica albums by itself. While there are definitely some obvious choices from their catalog, that’s exactly why we didn’t include them: it’s too easy!

Ok, are we all set? Everything clear now? Well then without further ado, click on the page numbers below to see our Top 5 most disappointing albums to come from otherwise great metal bands.

Ozzy’s my favorite musician and even I’ll agree that Down To Earth and most of Black Rain weren’t up too par with the rest of his catalog. However,   Scream is probably one of my favorite albums by him; right behind No More Tears, Blizzard, and Diary. Anyway, I’m just glad you didn’t put Sabbath’s “Never Say Die” album on here, it may not be close to their best but it is a original-lineup Black Sabbath album, nothing beats that.

Of course it says you could do a “Top 5 Disappointing Albums” on Metallica. Everyone is dissing on them and it’s absolute crap. Last time I checked they were in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. But who cares what I say. I’m only a 13 year old girl. Nothing else matters.. :/
