Portland’s Agalloch have been practicing their awesome strain of folk/black metal since 1995, but haven’t really toured all that extensively in the U.S. throughout their 17-year career. That’s about to change, as the band have announced a month-long tour in support of Faustian Echoes, a new 20-minute, one-song EP the band’s releasing. While we’d announced the tour dates before, the venues and openers have been finalized. Taurus, a band featuring Dark Castle’s Stevie Floyd and former Purple Rhinestone Eagle member Ashley Spungin, will open, and Agalloch will select all local openers. If there aren’t any openers, they’ll play for nearly two hours.

The EP will be put out through the band’s own Dammerung Arts label, and while it will be streaming and available digitally, the only place to get the CD or vinyl version of the EP will be at the shows.

“We are excited by Taurus’ experimental and challenging music and feel they are a perfect fit for usm: the band says. “We have carefully selected local openers whose music fits the environment of an Agalloch show. Where there are no openers selected, we will play nearly 120 minutes. We are all personal fans of the openers and encourage everyone to show up early to see them.”

Catch the tour dates after the jump.
