Clutch announce year-end/early 2015 shows with Torche, Lionize

Posted by on September 24, 2014

Clutch always cap off the year with a few regional shows, generally between Christmas and New Year’s Eve. This year, they’ll be doing that again, but taking New Year’s Eve off and picking right back up in 2015 with a handful of shows. Support will be provided by Torche and Lionize, which is a pretty perfect bill for them. Lionize’s Jetpack Soundtrack, which was co-produced by Clutch drummer Jean-Paul Gaster, was released on the  band’s own Weathermaker Records label earlier this year. And Torche’s heavy melodic riffage meshes perfectly with Clutch’s pure rock fury. Count us in!

The dates are as follows:

12/27 Cincinnati, OH @ Bogart’s
12/28 Cleveland, OH @ HOB
12/29 Sayreville, NJ @ Starland
12/30 Philadelphia, PA @ Electric Factory
01/03 Atlanta, GA @ Center Stage
01/04 Buena Vista, FL @ HOB
01/06 New Orleans, LA @ HOB
01/07 Houston, TX @ HOB
01/08 Dallas, TX @ HOB
01/09 Tulsa, OK @ Cain’s
01/10 Austin, TX @ Emo’s

I don’t know anything about Lionize but Torche opening for Clutch, wow! Torche CD’s aren’t the easiest things to come by, and Steve Rogers shows us that he is a great heavy pop musician along with his own special brand of metal that recalls the heaviest doom and hardcore , Floor. I personally don’t know which one I like better. As for Clutch, why aren’t these geniuses ultra huge? My guess is they’re not dumbed down enough and some idiots just don’t get their rocking sound that recalls the best of ’70’s heavy rock and packs riffs so heavy and so cool it’s like being headbutted by a refrigerator. Living in NW Arkansas, I don’t know if I could make it to Tulsa depending on my work schedule, and no doubt they’ll sell out quick. If Neal and Co. read this post, we have a good outdoor amphitheater in Rogers that holds around 7,000, and with a good support act I’ll bet they could sell lots of tickets. There are a couple of bars in Fayetteville and a run down theater or two, and the ballroom at the U of A student union. Please consider visiting us soon.
