Gigantour Returning in 2009?

Noisecreep posted an interview with Megadeth Bassist James Lomenzo, who touched on the subject of a possible return for Gigantour. The festival, known for it’s curiously-constructed lineups, hasn’t been mentioned often since its last run in early 2008. Lomenzo promises a fourth run will be in the works, and it will come together quickly:
“It’s going to happen, it’s a force of nature! We have to see what bands are available, what tours are going through, when it makes sense to go where. It usually comes together fast. We can get it together in two or three months.”
I’m sure the tours (like anything on this scale) are actually deeply thought out and planned, but it makes you wonder if the “see what’s out there and put it together fast” approach might explain why Gigantour has seen such oddly constructed lineups featuring everything from Dream Theater to Dillinger Escape Plan to Overkill to Job for a Cowboy.

the line ups for gigantour have never been that “far out” or odd, with Dream Theater being the only true stretch. i always loved how Gigantour has included all types of metal acts. I got to go to the 2008 rendition at the New England Metal Hardcore Fest. It was awsome and am extremely happy to hear that its coming back. Im excited to see who will be on this year’s edition.

This is the reason I’ve never attended a Gigantour. I wouldn’t pay that much money to see a couple bands I can see another time.
