Hellyeah Confirmed For Megadeth’s Gigantour

Posted by on April 29, 2013

In last week’s top 5, there was one “supergroup” who we forgot as a possible candidate to play Megadeth’s Gigantour this year. That group would be Hellyeah. And as it turns out, they will indeed be onstage with Dave Mustaine as part of the festival tour.

Hellyeah revealed this past weekend that they will be playing the 2013 version of the tour. Besides Megadeth, they join previously confirmed acts David Draiman’s Device and Death Division (featuring ex- Hellyeah/Nothingface bassist Jerry Montano and Morbid Angel/ex-Divine Heresy drummer Tim Yeung). Meanwhile, the rumor mill also suggests that Black Label Society will be playing Gigantour as well.

As for Hellyeah, they certainly fit the criteria that Mustaine stated about this year’s lineup, that “Each one of the other bands on there, they’re new bands comprised of a person who was a major celebrity from a really large band that went on to do something new.” After all, the band does include Pantera drummer Vinnie Paul, as well as Chad Gray and Greg Tribbett of Mudvayne. It actually might be a tad awkward for the band, since Death Division’s Jerry Montano left Hellyeah under sudden circumstances. Either way, Hellyeah’s involvement pretty much confirms one supergroup who WILL NOT be playing Gigantour.
