In a recent interview done with the UK’s Daily Star, Bruce Dickinson said that he and Iron Maiden have no interest in playing the Glastonbury Festival. Instead, they will headline Sonisphere with Metallica. In the interview, Bruce claims that Glastonbury used to be interesting but…

“Now it’s the most bourgeois thing on the planet. Anywhere Gwyneth Paltrow goes and you can live in an air-conditioned yurt is not for me.”

Bruce also claimed he is annoyed by the fact that some festivals get coverage favoritism, while others don’t get any at all.

“The fact that the BBC sends thousands to film it, whereas they can’t be a***d to turn up to Sonisphere or Download with a camper van and a hand-held says it all to me.”

Since Sonisphere will be the last gig on Iron Maiden’s current tour, Bruce says he has something crazy planned for the festival, potentially involving planes among other surprises.

“I’ll be dogfighting for 15 minutes. There’s not many events where you can point to the air and say that’s the singer.”

Sounds like Maiden has something special planned for their Sonisphere show. If you want to read the entire article, check it out here.
