Volbeat, Anthrax show cancelled in Calgary

Posted by on May 4, 2015

Just a week into their tour and the 2015 Volbeat / Anthrax tour has already hit a snag. The two bands (and Crobot) were scheduled to play Sunday night at the 5,000+ capacity Calgary Stampede Corral, in Calgary, Alberta, Canada but then Anthrax Tweeted that the show would not go on.

From the Anthrax Twitter account:

“Breaking: Looks like tonights show in Calgary is cancelled. Will get news up to you guys when it comes in….”

Finally the reason for the cancelled concert came from the Volbeat camp:

“Today it was determined by the building engineer that the building infrastructure was not adequate to support the requirements of the show. In order to ensure the safety of the fans and band, it was decided by the building not to proceed with the show in this building at this time.”

According to the Calgary Herald, the show was, “cancelled around the same time the show was scheduled to begin.” The news of the cancellation was certainly a let down for everyone, with even Scott Ian replying to a fan on Twitter, saying, “We’re all bummed out. Our time on stage is sacred to us.”

Volbeat says that ticket refunds will be available starting today at 10am.
