Watain Announce US Tour (In Grim Fashion)

Posted by on August 5, 2013

WATAIN“A thousand years and a thousand deaths have passed since we last visited the States, so prepare yourself to face something very, very old and very, very hungry”, announce Swedish black metal band Watain. While the quote may not be 100% factually accurate (they last toured North America in 2012. No comment on the “thousand deaths” though), but it paints a pretty good picture of what to expect when the group arrives on American shores from the grim and frostbitten lands of the north in support of new album The Wild Hunt.

Here is the full quote from the band announcing the tour, which reads something like a prophecy foretelling an impending disaster:

“Starting the first full tour for The Wild Hunt in North America seems quite appropriate, considering how many severe experiences and sleepless nights that country has bestowed upon us while riding through its strange wilderness…A thousand years and a thousand deaths have passed since we last visited the States, so prepare yourself to face something very, very old and very, very hungry.

Deformed from both victory and defeat, distorted by a constant influx of powers residing beyond the borders of this world, we now return to join forces with our ever loyal US supporters. With us we will have two acts that have the capacity of transforming the audience into one big open wound before we go on stage, ready then to receive the lethal yet illuminating venom of Watain.”

The other two acts in question are In Solitude and Tribulation. Watain are known for their stage performance and “evil” persona, which frontman Erik Danielsson discussed with Metal Insider during an album listening party. They have already released two songs from The Wild Hunt: All That May Bleed“, and “The Child Must Die“. The full album comes out August 20 from Century Media Records.
