Unsigned & Streamed: Lerdo

Unsigned & Streamed

Why should major label bands be the only ones who get love? Unsigned & Streamed is a column where we stream a song from an unsigned band we at Metal Insider really dig.

This week, we’re excited to showcase Lerdo from Santiago, Chile. After originally forming as a four piece, this trio has been turning heads with their 2006 EP Caleido Abra Scopio and 2008’s J.E.KO. In fact, Lerdo even caught the attention of Billy Gould and Mike Patton, who hand-picked them to open for Faith No More at their 209 “La Gala” concert in Chile. And last year saw the release their latest album Division de Oro. Lerdo’s complex and at times intense style is what we imagine The Mars Volta and Melvins combined together would sound like. So without further ado, listen to the song “Ad Baculum,” off of Division de Oro, after the jump.

Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser.

Lerdo are currently touring behind their latest release, and are planning to release a video for the song you just heard above this coming August. Division de Oro can be downloaded via Bandcamp, while you can keep up to date on the band via their official website and Facebook page.

If you’re in an unsigned band and would like to participate in Unsigned & Streamed, email a link to your band’s music and a brief bio to tips [at] metalinsider.com for consideration.
