We brought you the total bummer of a news story on Monday that Animals as Leaders had their house broken into and their gear stolen while they were on tour and getting arrested. Guitarist Javier Reyes even had his Chevy Blazer stolen. While that’s still up there with the shittiest news we’ve heard this week, there’s a bit of a silver lining in the cloud, as the band explained on their Facebook page:

Hey everyone.
We’ve actually got some good news to report! The LAPD successfully recovered Javier’s car. The even better news is that one of the stolen guitars was in the back seat! I’m now reunited with Strandberg #17.
We want to commend the LAPD for their ability to find the stolen vehicle within 24 hours of receiving the police report. Hopefully this is the key to finding the rest of the guitars! Something still may pop up online so please keep your eyes open. Thanks for all of the support.

We love you all : )

So while it’s still unfortunate, it could have been worse. There’s likely an APB out for any 8-string guitars in the greater L.A. area. In other news, in the above video, Thrice and opening band O’Brother joined AAL onstage in headgear and costumes during “CAFO” to send them off in style.
