Breaking: Tim Lambesis pleads guilty, could serve up to nine years in prison

Posted by on February 25, 2014

lambesis1NBC San Diego reports that As I Lay Dying frontman Tim Lambesis has pleaded guilty to hiring a hitman to murder his wife. He’ll serve nine years in prison, according to a court clerk. He’d been pleading innocent until now, and while the “readiness conference” for his trial kept getting pushed back, it was expected that he would continue to claim that his steroid use was a factor in hiring a hitman to kill his estranged wife, Meggan Lambesis. As court documents revealed the plot behind his murder, it seemed less and less likely that he’d be able to claim steroid use, and this plea bargain brings an end to the saga, which started when the As I Lay Dying and Austrian Death Machine frontman was arrested.

The sentencing still has yet to be handed down, and is expected to happen in early May. So while the court clerk reported nine years, that’s the maximum he would serve, and the duration of his stay in prison wasn’t announced today. This is obviously a breaking story, and we’ll continue to update as we find out more.
