Chris Cornell’s tour engineer says he seemed high during last show

When we took in what would become Soundgarden’s last show one week ago, we didn’t notice anything majorly out of the ordinary. Sure, there were a few missed cues, there was one point where Cornell didn’t have the backup guitar that he should have, but that seemed par for the course, at least to our reviewer. However, the band’s tour manager and front of house engineer Ted Keedick says otherwise. He tells TMZ that Cornell seemed “high” and “fucked up” during the set. He’s worked with Cornell for the last decade, so his insight might count:

“Chris was out of character from note 1 of the show. I’ve never heard or seen him that way before, at least if we did not cancel a show.”

He did add that Cornell seemed like he was in good spirits during the show, which we noticed as well. Keedick says, however, that at one point druing the show, he was concerned enough that he called backstage from the sound board and asked if everything was ok with Cornell. With toxicology tests coming back soon, we’ll find out soon enough if or what the singer was on anything.
