Wayne_and_Tera_Wray_Static_by_JeremySafferWhen news of Static-X frontman Wayne Static’s death hit this past Saturday, many were quick to offer memories and thoughts of the singer. Papa Roach frontman Jacoby Shaddix was one of them, stating on Instagram that he was sad to hear that Wayne Static had died of an overdose. Many in the media were quick to pick up on that, and it was assumed as fact by some until a statement came out stating that he hadn’t been on drugs and had died in his sleep. His widow, Tera Wray, also stated the same. It took a few days, but Shaddix has apologized via Facebook for jumping to conclusions and not checking his sources. And not only did he apologize, he yelled, David Draiman style:

I FEEL TERRIBLE ABOUT MY POST ABOUT WAYNES PASSING. I HAD A FEW FRIENDS HIT ME UP AND SAID HE DIED FROM OVERDOSE. I SHOULD HAVE CHECKED MY FACTS FIRST…….. MY HEART GOES OUT TO HIS FAMILY AND FRIENDS. MY HEART IS HEAVY. WAYNE I ALWAYS HAD RESPECT FOR YOU AND DIDNT MEAN TO DISRESPECT YOU AND YOUR FAMILY LIKE I DID. IT WASNT MY INTENTIONS. I WILL OWN MY MISTAKE. MAY YOU REST IN PEACE.

JACOBY

At least he apologized, even though it won’t bring Wayne back. It seems like his name’s been cleared, and if there’s any solace in his unfortunate passing, it’s that drugs apparently didn’t play a part in it.
