It’s no surprise by now that Lady Gaga likes metal. All you have to do is look at the ridiculously awful album cover for Born This Way, in which she actually is metal, to see that. She’s also hung out at SXSW watching Lazer/Wulf, brought Babymetal on tour with her, and got to meet some of her favorite artists. So what better time for her to reaffirm her love of the genre than during a Reddit AMA about her new album of standards with 88 year-old Tony Bennett? When Reddit user leftyguitarjoe told her she was a guilty pleasure of his as a metal dude, she said the following:

I’m actually also a metal dudette, worked at a metal bar for years, and was a go-go dancer at rockn’roll clubs. Last night when i got my tattoo of the monster paw, I was listening to Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath, Metallica, AC/DC, Judas Priest. And then other times I listen to Sigur Ros and nature sounds: like birds, water, and such. But on other nights, i like to slug whisky and scream Bruce Springsteen and Garth Brooks with my dad in the bar at his restaurant. I have a lot of different sides to my personality, but even MORE different sides musically.

She loses a bit of cred for calling AC/DC a metal band, then a little more for mentioning Garth Brooks. She got it back later in the thread, when asked what her favorite metal song was. “‘Black Sabbath’ by Black Sabbath,” she stated. “I need to write a song called ‘Lady Gaga.’ It’s the most metal thing you can do.”
