Lamb of God leading charts around the world

Posted by on August 4, 2015

The sun came out this morning and is really hot; the water of the ocean is salty and wet; Glen Danzig is not a fan of people recording videos and will hurt you if you do. These are some of the obvious things we know will happen no matter what and the latest one we can add to the list is Lamb of God blowing up the music charts around the world with their latest album VII: Sturm und Drang released a couple of days back. We even called on it as soon as it came out.

The numbers for the first-week chart positions have been revealed for their last album and, boy, are they impressive, particularly for a metal band in this day and age when music has been led by mainstream pop or hip hop or whatever kids listen to nowadays for a while:

Canada: #1
Australia: #2
USA: #3
UK: #7
Germany: #12
Japan: #13
Netherlands: #13
Finland: #3
New Zealand: #11
Sweden: #19
Belgium: #23
Ireland: #25

Aside from the fact that the album is actually really good, frontman Randy Blythe mentioned the album was doing so good that it was fighting the leading spot with Jill Scott, who has a larger fan base and presence with the mainstream media, proving that metal is still relevant on today’s music scene. We will get to see some real figures when we do our Metal by Numbers column to know exactly how many albums you have to sell to be the #3 in the US.

Congratulations to the Lamb of God camp for such a killer response and, if you want to congratulate them and listen to them playing some of their new music, catch them during their current tour with Slipknot at the following dates:
