Iron Maiden drummer Nicko McBrain said there’s a new album ready to go this year, but Bruce Dickinson’s fight with cancer – which is going well – has pushed things back a bit.

Said McBrain in an interview with 98.7 The Gater:

“We have made an album. The album was ready to go this year… and it still is. When I was ‘was,’ we were planning on going out and doing some work around the album, which now, we’re all just holding on, and once Bruce is up and running, hopefully in the next couple of months, we’ll… You never know when this might happen. You just never know, do you? [Laughs]”

Dickinson’s cancer was discovered “just before Christmas,” and the news of his recovery was made a short time ago. Perhaps the follow up to Iron Maiden’s 2010 album, The Final Frontier, could actually happen this year.
