Slayer Writing A New Album, Jeff Hanneman’s Condition Improving

Posted by on November 21, 2011

It’s been two years now since Slayer released World Painted Blood. And now it would appear that work on the next album has already gotten started. In addition to giving updates regarding his band Philm, drummer Dave Lombardo revealed the following about Slayer and guitarist Jeff Hanneman’s condition via Facebook:

“Slayer is writing a new record. Jeff is still recovering and doing better.”

It wasn’t too long ago that bassist Tom Araya said that Slayer wouldn’t even consider recording a new album until Hanneman (who has been sidelined for most of the past year due to an infected spider bite on his arm) was fully recovered. While Lombardo’s posting hints that Hanneman isn’t 100%, it would appear that the guitarist is well enough for Slayer to start the writing process of a new album. An exact time frame surrounding a new Slayer album is still unclear, but there’s no truth to the rumor we just started that the album’s title is Spiders are Assholes.
