Tool NOT Making Progress On New Album, But Volto! Is

Updates

Yesterday, fans (including us) were excited when a newsletter on Tool’s website revealed that band members supposedly recorded with producer/ engineer Joe Barresi during Thanksgiving last week. However, it would appear that we’ve all jumped the gun.

Shortly after buzz swept the web, the newsletter was updated to mention that it was drummer Danny Carey’s project Volto! who was recording with Barresi last week, and NOT Tool. After reading the original newsletter, it’s easy to see how one could misinterpret it as information about a new Tool album. However, given singer Maynard James Keenan’s previous updates, it also was very likely too good to be true. Unfortunately, that turned out to be so.

Nevertheless, we are a bit disappointed about this update. While it’s cool to hear that Carey is recording music with his jazz/ rock jam band Volto!, we were excited to hear that progress was being made on a new Tool album. But as you can now see, we’ll just have to wait a little longer. We’re sure that the band is still working on new material, but as Keenan pointed out, Tool will be taking their sweet time recording.
