YouTube Preview ImageRegardless of what kind of music you like, Michael Jackson’s death last week was a defining moment in music. He influenced and inspired countless artists, among them former Soundgarden vocalist Chris Cornell, whose stripped-down take of Jackson’s “Billie Jean” was on his last solo album. Upon finding out of his death, Cornell reacted via Twitter, tweeting:

Driving from Poland to Berlin. Just heard Michael Jackson died. Makes me sad. I remember the Jackson 5 on a black and white TV. He had magic!

Later that weekend, at Sweden’s Peace and Love Festival, he paid tribute to Jackson by playing his version of “Billie Jean.” You can download an MP3 of him performing the song in 2006 in Stockholm here.

Interesting. I’ve never heard this before. Glad you shared it. Nice tribute post. We did lose a legendary performer when MJ died. He’s influenced so many musicians around today.
