Eagles of Death Metal documentary trailer revealed

Posted by on January 13, 2017

On November 13th, 2015, Paris was the setting for one of the worst terror attacks in recent history and perhaps the biggest attack on a music event we’re aware of when 89 fans attending the Eagles of Death Metal concert at Le Bataclan were executed. Singer Jesse Hughes has already tearfully recounted the evening’s events, and the band eventually returned to Paris to finish the show.

We’ve known that there was a documentary in the works for HBO about the attacks, how the band dealt with the aftermath, and their eventual return to the country to “finish the show,” as they say. Now there’s a trailer for the Colin Hanks-directed film, Eagles of Death Metal: Nos Amis (Our Friends) and we also know that the film will be premiering one month from today, February 13th, on HBO. What we don’t know is how the film will portray EODM. It can be assumed that because the band participated in it, and the overall shocking narrative of a massacre breaking out at one of your shows that it will be sympathetic towards them. It will be interesting, however, to see if the documentary touches on Hughes’ assertions that the venue knew about the attacks, a controversial statement that allegedly got him banned from Le Bataclan when it reopened a year later.  That’s quite possibly almost as compelling a story.
