About a month ago it was reported that Megadeth’s Dave Mustaine would be performing with the San Diego Symphony at an event called Symphony Interrupted, featuring Mustaine as a soloist during classic selections by Vivaldi, Wagner, and more. The event took place last Saturday evening and there are a few short fan-filmed clips are available. How’d it go? Well, either there was a sound problem, Mustaine was having a bad day or both because it doesn’t sound particularly good. The first clip is Vivaldi’s “Summer” from “The Four Seasons” and the second is Wagner’s “The Ride of the Valkyries”, and in both of them Mustaine sounds out of tune and sloppy, and is much louder than the symphony. The third clip is from Vivaldi’s “Winter” which sounds slightly better than the first two. You be the judge, but if you were expecting something like Yngwie Malmsteen or Metallica’s S&M, this isn’t quite it.
