During Korn’s set at the Carolina Rebellion festival in Rockingham, NC Saturday night (May 5), fans received a major surprise. Korn were joined onstage by former guitarist Brian “Head” Welch for a performance of “Blind.” This marked the first time in seven years Welch performed with his bandmates.

As fans know, the guitarist’s appearance onstage is a bit of a shocker. When Welch left in 2005 to become a born again Christian, bad blood arose between him and his former bandmates. Over the years, though, the band started to mend their relationship Welch, who now records music with his new project Love And Death. In fact, Welch even claimed in an interview with Loudwire last Fall that he is on great terms with all of Korn, including frontman Jonathan Davis. And now this performance at the Carolina Rebellion further proves that he is back on good terms with Korn.

Shortly after performing with Korn, Welch tweeted the following:

“So amazing last nite playin w/KoRn. Reconciling w/family is always good. So much love on stage & from fans. Many tears shed. God is love.”

Of course, this does make many ask whether we can expect Welch to rejoin Korn on a permanent basis. Welch may be busy with Love And Death, as well with writing books and being a devoted Christian and father, while Korn are doing just fine without him as well. However, rumors about a Korn reunion with Welch will likely gain steam from here on out thanks to the Carolina Rebellion performance.

You can watch fan filmed footage of Korn performing “Blind” with Welch above, while another clip can be seen after the jump.
