A new collective founded in 2016 called The Careless Motion recently premiered their first production. The project, founded by Violette Wanty and Alexandra Laya, brings artists ( photographers, tattooists, painters, sculptors, compositors, musicians, painters, dancers etc) together to collaborate with extreme metal music. It is a unique experimentation that combines visual and and musical elements. The Careless Motion stated on their Facebook page, “We believe that mixing the senses and the actors in the creative process enhances the emotive transmission as well as the impact of the art.”

After posting clips of trailers and sneak peeks on their YouTube page, their first video called, “Dance On Meshuggah,” is a cover of Meshuggah’s song “Lethargica.” The guitar riffs come from an electric violin while the lyrics are screamed visually by the dancer.

The full synopsis reads:

“Growing individualism, widening inequality, violence, manipulation, provocation; a killing machine is on its way. This short movie deals with the identity of an individual who is both an actor in, and spectator of the human decline. A contemporary dance, backed by death metal music, reflects his reaction in the face of his inevitable falling.”

Careless Motion announced the following:

“DANCE ON MESHUGGAH-Careless Motion

A cover tribute to Meshuggah (on the song Lethargica) where the obsessional riffs are played on the electric violin and the lyrics are screamed out by the dancer.”
