Video: Carcass’ “Corporal Jigsore Quandary” Gets A Piano Makeover

What can we say, we’re suckers for classical covers of metal songs. And this one takes the cake for the most unlikely combo of classical piano and death metal. Ukrainian pianist Viktoriya Yermolyeva (aka vkgoeswild) has performed many piano covers of metal and rock songs live and for YouTube videos. Yet it’s her cover of Carcass’ “Corporal Jigsore Quandary,” which she performed live in Zurich earlier this year, that caught our attention. For one, we never thought we’d hear a classical rendition of this song. And two, though she broke one of her piano strings towards the end of her performance, Yermolyeva’s cover is pretty damn impressive.
You can watch Yermolyeva’s classical rendition of “Corporal Jigsore Quandary” above. While more of her covers can be found on her website and YouTube account, you can also check out her renditions of Pantera’s “Cowboys From Hell,” Opeth’s “Deliverance” and Tool’s “Vicarious” after the jump. Yermolyeva also takes requests for covers in exchange for suggested donations via her website.
