Trent Reznor Apparently Doesn’t Follow Through

Today’s Trent Reznor rant was brought on by a post he made on Twitter…wait, what? Didn’t he quit Twitter like a month ago in dramatic fashion? Oh savior of online marketing, how can we trust anything you say now? Our world is completely upside down. Hold me.

… except wasn’t it that one of the main reasons for leaving the interwebs was because above-cited douches were insulting his fiancee in graphic and virulent ways? And c’mon, a big scary dude who loves his ladyfriend is sweet.
What he said about the interwebs being populated by idiots is pretty much true; just about every band who makes themselves as accessible online as he has is opening themselves up to a lot of abuse. I can’t imagine that there comes a point at which a person gets used to the incredible nastiness of some people when they’re anonymized online.
Besides, the “FINE THEN I’LL TAKE MY BALL AND GO HOME” doesn’t change the fact that all of his advice is incredibly good. Artists just getting started aren’t going to be the same sort of moving target that a huge star like him becomes — makes perfect sense he’d recommend Twitter to up-and-comers.
