All Shall Perish Rotting KingAll Shall Perish has been inactive since singer Eddie Hermida joined Suicide Silence over two years ago (who’ve since released last year’s You Can’t Stop Me and done loads of touring). Earlier this week, though, a mysterious photo (seen above) teased of the deathcore band’s return. Well now it is official: All Shall Perish is reforming its “classic” lineup.

An official announcement confirms that Hermida (still a member of Suicide Silence) will reboot All Shall Perish with guitarists Ben Orum and Chris Storey, and drummer Matt Kuykendall. Also contributing in the reunion will be original vocalist Craig Betit, though it remains unclear as to what his involvement will entail. Not partaking in the reunion are original bassist Mike Tiner, drummer Adam Pierce (who’s been keeping busy as Emmure’s new drummer) and guitarist Francesco Arturo (who’s been keeping busy in Devil You Know).

As it turns out, the sudden return comes after Kuykendall (a founding member who split from the band in 2010) and Tiner were in the midst of a legal battle, with the court awarding Kuykendall the rights to the name, unpaid royalties, and other assets. It’s an interesting turn of events given how it was Tiner who was adamant about All Shall Perish continuing on without Hermida given his decision to join Suicide Silence. This would explain, though, why All Shall Perish has been so inactive since then.

Here is the entire statement about All Shall Perish’s return:

“ALL SHALL PERISH: BACK TO THE FUTURE
Happy Back To The Future Day from All Shall Perish!

“DOC! THIS IS HEAVY!” – Marty McFly

ALL SHALL PERISH IS:
Hernan “Eddie” Hermida – Vocals
Ben Orum – Guitar
Chris Storey – Guitar
Caysen Russo – Bass
Matt Kuykendall – Drums
Craig Betit – Additional VoKills

San Francisco, CA – How perfect that today is Back to the Future Day! All Shall Perish cofounders Matt Kuykendall, Ben Orum, and Caysen Russo are back together with Hernan “Eddie” Hermida and Chris Storey. (Start the DeLorean!).

The “deathcore” titans hailed by fellow Bay Area dwellers like Kirk Hammett (Metallica) and Robb Flynn (Machine Head) are making new music. Hermida fronted ALL SHALL PERISH on all three of their most recent albums: The Price of Existence (2006), Awaken the Dreamers (2008), and This is Where it Ends (2011). Hermida will continue in his role as fulltime vocalist for Suicide Silence. Orum plays guitar on all four All Shall Perish albums. Kuykendall, who created the name All Shall Perish, drums on all but the most recent album. Storey was a fan-favorite guitarist from 2003 to 2009. Hate, Malice, Revenge (2003) era guitarist Russo returns to the fold. Original vocalist Craig Betit also plans to contribute.

Nearing the conclusion of a legal arbitration over control of the band’s name, unpaid royalties, and other assets, bassist Mike Tiner declined a personal invitation from Kuykendall to rejoin his ex-bandmates. The legal system ultimately ruled in favor of the four out of five original members, their longtime vocalist, and guitarist. Russo will handle bass duties for ALL SHALL PERISH.

Hermida, Storey, Kuykendall, Orum, Russo, and Betit now look forward to putting their music in front of the court of public opinion: the fans, ensuring the legacy of ALL SHALL PERISH remains secure. Back to the Future Day, indeed!”

It remains unclear as to whether “The Rotting King” (the text that appears alongside All Shall Perish’s name in the teaser photo) is a title for the new album or song… or if it means anything, for that matter. While more will likely be revealed soon, we now know for certain that we can at least looked forward to new music from All Shall Perish.
