From The Whole Foods Aisle To The Big Screen: Maynard’s New Doc

Posted by Dan Rodriguez on Thu, Jun 11, 2009 at 2:37 pm

Why CAN'T We Not Be Sober?

First he was in your stores, signing your autographs, now he’s on your TV! Maynard James Keenan of Tool/A Perfect Circle/Puscifer has releaed the trailer for Blood Into Wine, a documentary that follows Maynard and his vineyard partner Eric Glomski and the creation of their line of Caduceus wines. For someone who’s notoriously media-shy when it comes to his bands, Maynard sure is out there pimping his vineyard. A score for the film, comprised of original music from Keenan, will follow the documentary’s release.

UPDATE: Our buddy Chuck, the metal host at Austin’s 101X radio, just dropped this fantastic tidbit from the Austin Whole Foods signing. Apparently Maynard was only signing things from behind a curtain, presumably to deter photos. What a weirdo! Amazing.

I got some bottles signed in Colorado. You had to wait in a line to buy the wine. Then, a line where you waited for them to take you over to another line. (Yes, really, a line for a line!) Then, a line to wait to get into the room where Maynard was, and finally a line in that room. They were behind a divider in this final room, so 2 hours of waiting and 4 lines got you about 20 seconds of face time. Ridiculous.
