revolvermusicawards

Last night, for the first time in New York, the Revolver Music Awards took place. The awards ceremony, formerly known as the Golden Gods, had taken a year off, and a sold-out Webster Hall was pretty excited for the awards ceremony, which included performances from Stitched Up Heart, Lacuna Coil, Anthrax and Megadeth. Zakk Wylde also played an acoustic version of “In This River” for a segment of musicians that died in the past two years since there was last a Revolver ceremony. Also of note, Cristina Scabbia joined Megadeth for “A Tout le Monde.”

A “Fallen Heroes” all star jam took place at the end of the night, after Metallica won album of the year for Hardwired… To Self Destruct (and the Megadeth-happy crowd booed). That consisted of Bumblefoot, members of Megadeth, Slipknot, Pop Evil, Annihilator, Mutoid Man, Butcher Babies, Red Sun Rising, Lacuna Coil and Ace Frehley also took place. Motorhead’s “Killed by Death” was covered by Butcher Babies‘ Carla Harvey and Heidi Shepherd and Lacuna Coil‘s Cristina Scabbia. Pop Evil and Red Sun Rising took on Stone Temple Pilots‘ “Plush,” and Ace Frehley, Slipknot‘s Jim Root and Bumblefoot and Bumblefoot ended with a cover of Ace’s “New York Groove,” even though he’s still alive.

We’ll be bringing you plenty of coverage from the Black Carpet, as well as photos from the evening’s events, but for now, here’s who won the awards, in addition to Dave Mustaine picking up a lifetime achievement award and Anthrax picking up an “innovator award”:
