Posted by on January 18, 2012

Dark Funeral was supposed to start their North American tour with Abigail Williams, Inquisition and Gigan on January 29 at the Jaxx in West Springfield, Virginia. However, the Swedish black metal group confirmed yesterday that they have been forced to postpone the tour.

Dark Funeral released the following statement about the tour’s postponement:

“Dear Fans, friends and supporters of Dark Funeral,

It is with great regret that we have to inform you today that our North American Tour has to be postponed. Due to circumstances and events way beyond our control, there is no other way but to postpone these dates. And yes, our triumphant return to the United States Of America is definitely not cancelled, but postponed. And we will try to announce the new North American tourdates as soon as possible, so you better stay tuned! However, our appearance at the 70.000 Tons Of Metal-Cruise will take place as planned. Hope to see some of you there.

All tickets for the effected dates are now being refunded:  http://www.enterthevault.com/

Meanwhile, Abigail Williams confirmed the news and revealed their plans to book their own shows via the following statement:

“Yes, it’s true, the Dark Funeral tour is cancelled. In light of this we are working on booking our own DIY headlining shows across the US in addition to the week of headlining dates we already have booked. So far we have shows in Worcester and Trenton confirmed and we will be posting more as we get them booked. anyone interested in helping out email ksorceron@gmail.com. be sure to check our dates section for updated dates as they come.”

Since releasing the statement, it would appear that Abigail Williams have booked dates in Philadelphia, New York, Spartanburg, Cleveland, and Columbus. However, there’s still a big gap open in their schedule before they head out on the road with Deicide. Keep an eye out on their Facebook dates section for more shows to be announced. And while you’re at it, you can also stream their new album Becoming, which comes out on January 24 via Candlelight Records, in its entirety at Hails And Horns.
