There’s a new Dethklok special and album coming

dethklokThis one took us kind of by surprise. While season five of Adult Swim’s Metalocalypse: Dethklok still hasn’t been announced, on October 27th, the network will air METALOCALYPSE: the DOOMSTAR REQUIEM A KLOK OPERA, a one-hour special. And they’ll be pulling out the big guns for this one. Not only will Brendon Small be rejoined by Brian Beller, Mike Keneally and Gene Hoglan, but the soundtrack, which is coming on October 29, will be a musical featuring a fifty-piece orchestra. And the special will feature the voice talents of Jack Black, Mark Hamill, Malcolm McDowell, and Cannibal Corpse’s George “Corpsegrinder” Fisher.

the DOOMSTAR REQUIEM picks up right where season 4 of the show left off. With Toki Wartooth having been abducted, it’s up to the rest of Dethklok to put aside their egos and try to find him. The special will air on Sunday, October 27th at midnight.

“This is not like anything we’ve ever done,” creator Brendon Small says. “This is a full blown musical- metal combined with symphonic passages, classic musical theatre, high stakes drama, emotional moments, and yes totally ridiculous comedy. I drew from all of my influences to make this the most unique project I could dream of. This is easily the best thing we’ve ever done with the show and the music. I can’t wait for you to hear it.”

The score was composed along with composer Bear McCreary (The Walking DeadBattlestar Galactica), and aside from the score, there will be a new Dethklok song, “Blazing Star.” This is going to be pretty epic. Check out a trailer below.
