Mastodon has had a pretty prolific year, having released and album and an EP while being on tour for much of the year and making the late night rounds. That doesn’t mean that they’re sitting still, even as they continue to hit the road with Eagles of Death Metal and Russian Circles. For one, they’ve got another beer. This isn’t the first time they’ve done it, having had a limited edition beer back in 2009, and have pretty much continued to partner with beer companies for every album they come out with.

Emperor of Sand is no exception, and now you can pick up your very own bottle of Sultan’s Curse from Mikkeller Brewing. Decibel reports that the brew is available at the company’s US brewery in San Diego. It’s a limited edition imperial stout, following up on the last time the band and Denmark brewery teamed up for Mother Puncher Farmhouse IPA, which was poured at Decibel’s inaugural Beer and Metal Fest. Drummer Brann Dailor commented:

We love collaborating with Mikkeller because we feel like we’re cut from the same cloth. Mikkeller is always being incredibly creative and pushing the boundaries in the beer world and that’s what we try to do with our music.

That’s not the only Mastodon collaboration happening, however. Back in 2015, we told you about Legend of the Seagullmen, the band featuring Mastodon’s Brent Hinds alongside Tool’s Danny Carey and OFF!’s Dimitri Coats. Two songs came out, and then no one heard much else about it. Until now, that is. If you’re in Oakland California and making New Year’s Eve plans, you now have a pretty intriguing option. Legends of the Seagullmen will be opening for Primus at the Fox Theater. Tickets will go on sale for the show tomorrow (20) and you can find out more about it here. It also appears that an album from Legend of the Seagullmen album will be coming out on Dine Alone Records, according to the below Instagram from Jimmy Hawyard, who plays guitar in the band. We’ll keep an ear out for that.
