It’s Friday, and all I want to do is listen to some hardcore. Oklahoma’s Allusion and their EP “Land of Sleep” are the cure to the Friday afternoon slump. Their sound is rooted in moshy hardcore and big, meaty grooves. There’s some clean choruses here, but they’re not sugary and still call to mind a lot of sweaty dudes screaming the words in a VFW. They’ve spent some time on the road and that’s obviously honed their craft. “Honesty and integrity” is the band’s main goal in their own words, and mission accomplished there as far as I’m concerned. I’ve never been to Oklahoma before, but if I do, I’d want to stop by an Allusion show.
